It’s possible to remain a newcomer in folk music for perhaps far longer than in any other genre, but after 17 years and seven solo albums Jackie Oates is one of the mainstays of an accomplished, informed and stylistically individual English traditional music scene that began in the early 2000s and continues to thrive.

Gina is a young songwriter whose writing credits include Ronan Keating, KT Tunstall (who Gina will support on tour this November) and Natasha Hamilton (Atomic Kitten) among others.. Her own music leans toward americana and pop/country as evidenced by the three singles released so far from her debut album due in March. Exciting times ahead for this highly promising singer songwriter.

Three hard working and highly accomplished musicians, Bella Gaffney, Holly Brandon and Kate Griffin tour these shores regularly and have performed at Glastonbury Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Larmer Tree Festival, Shambala Festival, Towersey Festival and Deer Shed Festival plus international shows in Canada, Ireland and Portugal, including Folk Music Ontario where they launched their sophomore album “Undertow” in 2022.
February 2023 saw them jump over the pond again to be one of a select few English artists at Folk Alliance in Kansas City.

And then there’s these two hard boys Sheffield-based electronic pioneers. Little did we know that the guys in this old photo were about to fashion one of the most enduring electronic hits of the 21st century.
They have continued to write great songs and make innovative and ground-breaking music ever since. Both as I Monster and on their separate projects. Jarrod Gosling with his prog band Cobalt Chapel and Dean Honer with The Eccentonic Research Council, Moonlandingz, International Teachers of Pop – all of which feature heavily and regularly on BBC 6 Music – and his latest collaborative incarnation Another New Thing.
If one thing’s for sure, there’s more to come from these two. Watch and learn…

Since entering the BBC Young Folk Award with her brother back in 2009 – and winning it – Megan’s songwriting has gone from strength to strength.
With three albums to her name, along with collaborative EPs and shows with folk stalwart Jackie Oates and with celtic folk bard Findlay Napier, she has also written with a variety of other artists and her compositions are everywhere.
Leading to a maturity and variety that has moved her way beyond ‘folk’. Rooted in it, but certainly not bound by it…
Here’s another writer/artist we’ve been working with for many years. Four albums in and working on his fifth as we speak.
His music has graced many a TV show over the years including the soundtrack to Amazon Prime’s series FLACK. He has also written music for and performed in two award-winning touring stage productions; The Trench and Alice’s Adventures Underground.
Cunning Folk is George Hoyle. George is an historian and auteur and has been exploring nay, pushing, the boundaries of folk for a few years now.
He curates the Bermondsey Folk Festival along with many events around South East London where he regularly gives talks on a variety of subjects such as folklore, paganism, you name it.
The brainchild of London-based producer, mix engineer, accomplished guitarist and songwriter Santi Arribas.
Santi has been making records with other people for a good while but his best known association is with the band Gang of Four and its mainstay the late, great Andy Gill, with whom he worked closely for many years.
The Roadside Bandits Project is part-blues, part-rock and part-electronic and beautifully showcases Santi’s songwriting (and not insignificant guitar prowess). The album features many of his previous collaborators.
Sound of the Sirens are an acoustic singer-songwriting duo based in Exeter, Devon comprising of Abbe Martin & Hannah Wood. Honing their craft over the past decade, Martin & Wood have cemented themselves as firm favourites not only on the West country scene, but nationally and internationally. Their fast-growing fan-base is not only testament to the pair’s prowess as songwriters and musicians, but as people too.
Martin & Wood are two of the hardest working musicians on the scene and wear their hearts very much on their sleeves in terms of their songwriting. The pair glide gracefully through laments of past relationships, and life experiences, as well as highlighting the important topics of the day, namely mental health awareness, and homelessness.
